BLAINE — The state Department of Transportation will host a ceremony today for the opening of the Blaine Truck Crossing project.

The state’s first gentleman, Mike Gregoire, will take part with DOT officials and IMCO Construction contractors. Blaine High School’s band will march across the new overpass.

The DOT project, finishing six months ahead of schedule, has created a fivelane highway with designated lanes for cars and trucks and a new overpass where a narrow two-lane road used to exist.

The event is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the new D Street overpass.
