After playing only three shows in Bellingham, local experimental indie band Rooftops has really come together.

Members are Drew Fitchette, 17, on guitar, Wendelin Wohlgemuth, 19, on drums and Mark Detrick, 27, on guitar. Fitchette is a student at Squalicum High School and Wohlgemuth is a student at Whatcom Community College.

Rooftops members say the range of ages really doesn’t matter because they are in similar places with their playing abilities and how they want their music to sound.

The band, which began writing a lot of music when it formed in June, has a variety of short catchy tracks and long epic songs — all instrumental. Their musical influences include the band Owls, local band Cicadas, and the Americas from Chico, Calif., among many others.

You can catch Rooftops tonight at the Rogue Hero on North State Street with Cicadas and Armonikos. Rooftops is also playing on Oct. 12 at the Old Foundry on Maple Street with The Lonely Forest and Go Slowpoke. For more info, check out www.myspace.com/rooftopsrawk.
