The band’s longest tour yet — from Bellingham to San Francisco, down to Austin, Texas, then north to Nebraska and back west — gave the group a chance to see new places and play at new venues. Feed and Seed, with its younger members, caters to a more youthful scene, keeping the shows energetic.
The band has been around for three and a half years, but its current lineup has only been together about two weeks. The band is Kat Bula on fiddle, Jess Duey on guitar, Mark Anderson on five-string banjo, Justin MacAskill on mandolin and Orin Dubrow on bass. Everyone chimes in on vocals, except MacAskill who joined two weeks before the end of the tour and will be heading back to California soon.
Feed and Seed has played in festivals such as Subdued Stringband Festival here and the San Francisco Bluegrass Festival.
The band’s recent self-released album, “McKinley’s Ghost,” is available around town at Everyday Music, Avalon, Sonic Index and Archives or from www.cdbaby.com.
This week Feed and Seed is playing two shows: a glad-to-be-home and a goodbye-to-MacAskill show, at 9 p.m. Saturday at the Green Frog Acoustic Tavern on North State Street, and a free show on campus at the Underground Coffeehouse at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
