U.K. reggae legend Pato Banton will be making two personal appearances in Bellingham on Saturday. First, an in-store performance at 2 p.m. at Everyday Music, 115 E. Magnolia St., followed by a show at 9 p.m. at Callaloo Caribbean Kitchen, 1212 N. State St.

Touring to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his debut single, “Never Give In,” Banton’s focus has been to promote the ideas of truth, beauty, and goodness through his music. Born Patrick Murray in London in the early 1960s and raised in Birmingham, Banton was exposed to music from an early age. Serving as doorman at his DJ stepfather’s parties, Banton made a name for himself in Birmingham’s music circuit with reggae band Crucial Music. Becoming the band’s leader, he led the group on tours across Europe. As his fame and popularity grew, he outgrew the band, and Banton launched his solo career.

Two decades, 15 albums, and one seven-year music hiatus later, he’s refreshed and ready to bring more reggae to Bellingham. Tickets for the evening show are $5 advance or $8 at the door. Call Callaloo at 676-5375.
