SUMAS — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a man trying to enter the U.S. Friday at the Sumas border crossing with 26 pounds of ephedrine, a drug used to make methamphetamine.

Gerardo Vasquez-Flores, 36, of Jalisco, Mexico, was driving a borrowed car after a short stay in Vancouver, B.C. Border officers found the drugs in a compartment behind the rear panels of the two-door car, said CBP spokesman Chief Thomas Schreiber.

Schreiber said the drugs have a street value of more than $100,000.
